Health measurement

The health section lets visitors check values such as blood pressure and body composition. The purpose is to show how routine measurement can help people notice changes in their health.

Measurement in daily life

Other booths introduce the role of measurement in water, electricity, gas, food and environmental services. Measuring instruments are also displayed, and visitors can try hands-on games and activities.

Quiz rally

A quiz rally takes visitors around the event’s different measurement themes. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government describes it as a way to learn about measurement while collecting stamps or seals at the booths.

Why November 1?

November 1 is Measurement Day in Japan, marking the date on which the revised Measurement Act came into force in 1993. Events are held around the country to raise awareness of how standards and measurement support daily life and consumer protection.

Access from Shinjuku Station

The venue is in the underground West Exit plaza area at Shinjuku Station. From the JR West Exit ticket gates, follow signs toward the Tokyo Metropolitan Government area. Because Shinjuku Station is large and busy, allow a little extra time if you are unfamiliar with the station.
